Embark on an unforgettable one-day journey to Évora and the Alentejo region, an area rich in history, culture, and natural beauty. This tour is ideal for those looking to experience Portugal's rural charm while discovering its fascinating heritage.

Morning: Journey to Évora

Your day begins with a scenic drive from Lisbon to Évora, located about 1.5 hours away in the heart of Alentejo. Along the way, enjoy the tranquil countryside of rolling vineyards, olive groves, and golden plains.

Arriving in Évora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, start with a visit to the iconic Roman Temple, an architectural marvel dating back to the 1st century AD. Next, explore Évora Cathedral, a majestic Gothic structure offering panoramic views from its rooftop. A short walk away is the Chapel of Bones (*Capela dos Ossos*), a unique and thought-provoking site decorated with human bones, serving as a stark reminder of life’s fleeting nature. Stroll the cobblestone streets of Évora's historic center, lined with whitewashed buildings and charming squares, soaking in the city’s rich history and character.

Afternoon: Alentejo’s Culinary and Scenic Delights

Pause for a traditional Alentejo lunch at a local restaurant. The region is known for its hearty dishes, such as *migas*, pork with clams, or lamb stew, all complemented by Alentejo’s famous wines. The food reflects the area’s agricultural roots, using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients.

After lunch, explore the Alentejo countryside, renowned for its serene beauty. Visit a local winery or olive oil estate to learn about the region’s celebrated production processes. Enjoy tastings of robust wines and aromatic olive oils, immersing yourself in Alentejo’s rural traditions.

Evening: Return to Lisbon

As the sun sets over the rolling hills, head back to Lisbon, reflecting on a day filled with history, gastronomy, and stunning landscapes.
